I'm curious and curiosity sometimes leads me to "discover" things really bizarre. For some time I came in doubt. Someone who follows this blog certainly know Extreme Makeover Home Edition. It 's a nice program, rather then here in Italy on the Sky platform (SkyUNO) aired for the first time in Italy in 2003. Seguitissimo in America so much that he won two Grammy Awards (the most important TV award at the international level). The program stems from a basic idea rather "simple": to build or rebuild homes for people truly in need who have suffered disasters like earthquakes or floods or lives in cases of hardship caused by loss or serious illness physical entity and physiological loved ones and the resulting problems that arise. On closer inspection, the idea is worthy and full of good intentions. The protagonist is a weapon of good will and with his team is organizing the reconstruction. In the context of construction companies and are used a lot of volunteers (the spirit of solidarity of Americans, from that point of view, it is commendable) with which a week ago, the promise of giving a new home to those who are chosen by the production. And the houses are, indeed, fabulous. There are of course moments of emotion (scrolls, because we know that tragedies are combined audience to tears and consequently, dollars!). In short, the program in terms of "taking the audience" is flawless. There is one though.
A part, however, that its basic idea. The houses that the program team building, are not "simple" homes for families, say, to measure, but it holds true. Now, if we want to be objective, if one puts a question. Are families who have had (and have) problems. In terms of not being able to afford more than a simple house, and you are going to build buildings of 350 square meters or more? Would not it make more sense if you really want to help them, build something more appropriate and in keeping with the life expectancy of these families? It 'really necessary to build their houses that even the Shah of Persia could afford? The two things are. Or take the piss out of the viewer or, worst of all, the family in question. True, sometimes the construction company and collections made by the community of neighbors, donate cash and in some cases pay them the remainder of the loan, but in this house we will live forever. And here there are the doubts. People of a certain social can "afford" such luxuries? I do not think that consumption of gas, electricity and water to be "free for ever." OK to be generous and supportive, but when you put in the hands of 400 square meters house in the hands of a family of 4 / 5 people, I began to doubt the fact that they can always keep. Apart from the fact that if we see how they are constructed homes (most built in the suburbs are all that) is to put your hands in your hair. I wondered why they rarely or almost never, in some cases, not coming into homes to "see" how things proceeded. Instill, if you built a house like a family in need, the least you can do is go find them. Why not make us a special, perhaps? Here is the answer to my question. Simply because many of these families have RESOLD unable to bear the costs of "maintenance" with the result that in times like these it to him who could buy a palace of Gender? Mmmm .. I see it hard. Others have even pulled behind the dislike, and sometimes hatred of their neighbors, so they have problems to leave the house and be forced to request the intervention of the sheriff. Conclusion. We look also to all the "Extreme Makeover Home Edition" that we want, but we always realize that behind these "good works" is far, far less than they apparently make us see. Welcome home, family "public"!
